An original painting from my Summoning series. This work was made while I was studying in Dusseldorf Germany. I was missing my family, especially my abuela and I stopped by a latin American grocery store to pick up ingredients to make Sopes, a dish my grandma had taught me just before leaving for Germany. During this time of my mfa I was creating a lexicon of symbols for each family member. This lead to imagery of cards, flowers, food, clothing, etc. I was also playing with how to layering multiple symbols into one via different textures and materials.
